Welcome to our School!

Welcome to the website of Ardfield National School. We hope this site will be of great benefit to our parents, guardians and friends.

We are a rural, co-educational school located in Ardfield, five minutes from the heart of Clonakilty and five minutes from the sea at Red Strand Beach. Our new five room school extension is completed and opened its doors for the first time in September 2013. Our school is a hive of active learning and creativity where each child is truly treated as an individual and is central to the learning process.

All of our school policies and curricular plans are all available to view in our Downloads section. These policies and plans are reviewed regularly by staff and the Board of Management. Your suggestions and comments about these policies are always welcome.

We hope that, through our Website, we will give a glimpse of our busy and varied life here at Ardfield National School. We would like you to browse our Website to get a taste of Scoil an Áird. The pages detail lots of our work and life here.

A new Montessori School - Bright Beginnings opened on the grounds of Ardfield National School in September 2013. There are places available for 2 1/2 - 6 year olds. Places can be booked by contacting Carmel O'Donovan of Brittas, Ardfield on 086-2638104. For more information please see the Montessori's own page on this web-site.

Please note: The school facilitates parents and children by making rooms available for activities outside of school hours conducted by private individuals who are Independent Contractors. These activities are not part of the school curriculum and are not regulated by the school which only provides facilities to enable these independent contractors and parents to make arrangements between themselves. Parents discharge any fees payable directly to the independent contractor who is responsible for all aspects of the service provided. Contractors have their own insurance. While the school makes every effort to facilitate all parties, neither the Board of Management of the school nor the trustees of the Parish can accept any liability whatsoever for any matter arising in connection with such activities or in neglect or in default of any such independent contractor whatsoever.

Scoil an Áird will endeavour to enhance the self-esteem of everyone in the school community, to instil in the pupils respect for people and property and to encourage in them the idea of being responsible.

Scoil an Áird will always be aware of, and endeavour to respond to, the special needs of the physically and mentally challenged pupils.
